Editing a Job (Task Groups)

The Job window is made up of three sections:

Each row in the Collector list and in the Script list is a different Task Group. The Scripts and Collectors added to a Job are known as Tasks which are contained within Task Groups. When a Script or Collector is added to a new row, a new Task and Task Group are automatically created.

To add HTTP scripts to the current job, drag and drop them from the Repository tree to the Scripts list or click the buttons located on top of the scripts list.

In the same way, drag and drop collectors from the Repository tree to the Collectors list or click the buttons located on top of the list to add them to the current job.

Use the Duplicate a Task Group function to duplicate a Task Group then edit the Task Group Definition to speed up the Job development process. A Task Group can be duplicated or deleted by right-clicking on a Task Group and selecting the required pop-up menu option.

The information section lets you specify the task group settings.

If you selected a collector or a script task group, the following tabs are availlable in the information section:

Job Options

Lets you :
  • specify a job description which can be automatically inserted in reports (cf job description Text Element)
  • Enable the "Automatic report generation" option which will allow to create reports at the end of job executions.

If the selected task group is a Collector Task group, the information section contains:

Task group tab Lets you specify the task group name, the start and stop options, the host on which the task group will run and a task group description.

if the selected task group is a Script Task group, the information section contains:

SLA tab lets you define a SLA.
Task group tab Lets you specify the task group name, the start and stop options, the host on which the task group will run and a task group description.

Scripts tab

VU tab Virtual users options.
Options tab Advanced options influencing on the load test injector behavior.
Network Options tab Lets you specify :
  • a set of IP addresses to associate to virtual users.
  • a bandwidth limit per virtual user
RendezVous Options tab Lets you configure RendezVous options.

Note:
There is only a single instance of the Scripts and Collectors you create. They are included in Jobs by reference which means they can be included in many different Jobs or in the same Job as separate Tasks.

Deleting a Job has no affect on the Scripts and Collectors contained within the Job. Similarly, removing Tasks from a Test Job will not delete them from the Repository. Any changes you make to Scripts and Collectors are immediately reflected in all the Jobs that use them. The Scripts and Collectors that are incorporated into a Job can be removed by overwriting them with new selections or by deleting them from the Job Window.
