SQL Server databases

To create a new MS SQL Server database and its related ODBC data source:

1. Open the ODBC Data Source Administrator:
Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Data Sources (ODBC)

The ODBC Data Source Administrator window opens:



2. Click Add…
The Create New Data Source window opens:



3. Select the SQL Server driver and click Finish.
The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server window opens:



4. Specify:
• The database Name
• The SQL Server you want to connect to.
 

5. Click Next.
The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server window is updated:



6. Specify the Login ID and Password used to connect to the database and click Next.
The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server window is updated:

7. Select the Change the default database to option and select the new default database.

8. Click Next.
The Create a New Data Source to SQL Server window is updated:

9. Click Finish.
A report window appears:

10. Click OK.

The new MS SQL Server database and its related ODBC source are created.
