Recording methods

AgileLoad offers different recording methods:

Select the record mode in the "Record mode" drop-down list.

The "Record Settings" dialog box is divided into three parts:
A "Record mode" drop-down list, a navigation pane on the left and a display area on the right. The tree control in the navigation pane includes folder nodes. Expand any folder node to list the pages of options that it contains. When you select the node for a particular page, its options appear in the display area.
The content of the tree control depends on the selected recording mode.

The following explanations help you choose between the different recording options:

Integrated into IE:

Set the recording mode to "Integrated into IE" if:

Winsock:

Set the recording mode to "winsock" if:

If the application is configured to require a client certificate, you must declare a valid client certificate in the Client Certificates List.

AgileLoad proxy:

Set the recording mode to "Proxy" if:

AgileLoad Proxy Settings

Set "No" if the client program is not configured to connect to a proxy server.
Set "Local IE Settings" if the client program has the same proxy settings as the local host's Internet Explorer. AgileLoad automatically gets the proxy settings from IE.
Set "Custom Settings" to manually set the proxy setting of the client program.
  • HTTP and Port: Enter the address and port number of the proxy server for HTTP requests.
  • HTTPS and Port: Enter the address and port number of the proxy server for HTTPS requests.
  • Bypass proxy server for local addresses: Check the box if you do not want to use the proxy server for all local addresses, including intranet addresses.

If the application is configured to require a client certificate, you must declare a valid client certificate in the Client Certificates List.

Remark: The client application must be configured to have the AgileLoad proxy as proxy. (AgileLoad proxy listening port is defined in the advanced option (default: 90)).

HTTP Tunnel:

Set the recording mode to "Tunnel (HTTP)" if:

HTTP Tunnel fields

Host: target server host name
Port:
target server listening port

Remark: In HTTP Tunnel mode, the AgileLoad proxy must be identified as the server to client application. In this way, the client application sends HTTP requests to the AgileLoad proxy (port is the listening port) as if it is the real server and the AgileLoad proxy redirects those requests to the target server.

TCPTunnel:

Set the recording mode to "Tunnel (TCP)" if the client program does not use the HTTP protocol but another TCP protocol.

TCP Tunnel fields

Host: target server host name
Port: target server listening port

Remark: In TCP Tunnel mode, the AgileLoad proxy must be identified as the server to client application. In this way, the client application sends TCP packets to the AgileLoad proxy (port is the listening port) as if it is the real server and the AgileLoad proxy redirects those packets to the target server.
