Extracting from an HTML document

The HTML tab in the Parse/Check section (bottom part of the HTTP Data window) helps you add HTML parsing function on HTTP requests.

There are 4 categories of HTML parsing options:

HTML Extracts an HTML tag content, an HTML tag attribute or an HTML tag text.
Form Extracts an HTML Form (default values), a Form value (INPUT tag) or a Form value list (SELECT tag).
URL <A> Obtains the content of the HREF attribute of a <A> tag starting from its text displayed in a browser.
Table Gets a table or only a single cell from it.

Select the HTML radio button to add a function that extracts an HTML tag content, attribute or text.

Form Options

Select the Form radio button to add a function which extracts a Form, a Form value or a Form value list.

URL Options

Select the URL (<A>) radio button to add a function which obtains the content of the HREF attribute of an <A> tag starting from its label and its position (several URLs can have the same label).

The generated parsing function is HTML_GetUrl.

 

Table Options

Select the Table radio button to add a function that extracts a table or a table cell.

The table is located by the "Position" of the TABLE HTML tag (eg: the first TABLE).

Leave the "Extract Cell" box unchecked to extract the entire table. The parsing function loads the entire table in an array of character string variables.

Check the "Extract Cell" check box if you want to extract a single cell from a table. Specify the line and column position in the Line and Column fields. The parsing function loads the cell value in a character string variable.
